EABX - Aquatic ecosystems and global changes

Département :
Centre :

Research carried out by the Aquatic Ecosystems and Global Change unit aims to provide knowledge, build methods and improve tools to define and understand the status and dynamics of continental aquatic ecosystems (estuaries, lakes, rivers) by evaluating the response of these ecosystems or species (diadromous migratory fish and aquatic plants) to man-made pressures (fishing, environmental fragmentation, contamination, climate change) such as as restoration measures. The team is looking to identify areas of viability for these different systems in order to support public decision-making bodies with the aim of taking back ownership of the ecosystems and conserving threatened species.
These studies will support the development of an engineering field that can:

  • evaluate the ecological status of bodies of water:
    • estuaries (transitional waters) based on fish communities
    • rivers and lakes, based on aquatic plants
  • restoring diadromous migratory fish species (in particular, eels, shad, sturgeons and salmon) by developing relevant conservation biology methods.

WSCS World Sturgeon Conservation Society General assembly in Bordeaux on the 6th of April

At this occasion a workshop on “Post-release monitoring strategies in sturgeon restoration programs” is organized. The workshop will be held on the 6th of April from 8:30 am to 4 pm and will be followed by the WSCS General assembly 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
