Turning the agricultural equipment sector into a French success and supporting a farming industry that is committed to agro-environmental performance
As an innovative and dynamic field currently creating jobs, agricultural equipment is a sector that is of significant interest to 3 main government policies :
- The "new industrial France" led by Arnaud Montebourg,
- The strategic agenda for research, transfer and innovation by Geneviève Fioraso
- The "French agro-environmental project" by Stéphane Le Foll
To find out more about the field and develop the best policies for the future, Arnaud Montebourg, Geneviève Fioraso and Stéphane Le Foll have asked Irstea president, Jean-Marc Bournigal, to complete an important task : study the obstacles and incentives to incorporating the French agricultural equipment sector into the agro-environmental transition.
An expert on this issue, Irstea has been providing research into agricultural machinery, irrigation materials, sensors, control software, etc. for over 30 years. Distributed across its 9 centres, its teams have developed prototypes, test benches, software and measures to develop techniques combining both economic and environmental performance.
